Wintery but bright OOTD

Hello all, sorry I haven't been around much lately, but here is a brief post on what I wore to work yesterday! Its very cold in the UK atm, very snowy too, hopefull there'll be a little bit more this weekend, the little doggy loves the snow!

Mustard cardigan - Miss Selfridge (£8 second hand from eBay)
Pink top - Miss Selfridge (£5 second hand from eBay)
Black and pink butterfly belt - came with a dress I was bought
Fair Isle Skirt - Miss Selfridge (£26)
Black Tights
Black Boots - New Look (£24)

Total cost:£63

I quite often enjoy mixing colours that wouldn't normally work, pink, blue, mustard and black - who would think it could be pulled off? I think it just about works, not too much of one colour otherwise I think that could kill it...meh, some may think its over the top but I was quite pleased.

I'd be interested in ur opinions!! xoxo

Work inspired OOTD

I know I'm still not keeping up with my blog as well as I should be. But in 10 weeks I will be Mrs Thomson and hopefully I will be nice and tanned after my honeymoon! Today I'm sharing yesterday's outfit for work with you. I was cold when I got home this evening so got changed into some comfy clothes straight away so can't show you today's amazing outfit!

Please excuse the messy hair!

Scarf - Dorothy Perkins - £7 (instead of £12, I would never spend more than £10 on a scarf!)
Short sleeved black top - Miso (Republic) - £5 (sale item last January)
Paperbag trousers - Jane Norman - £21 (half price!)

What do you think? I have a feeling I should have added a thin black belt. But I love the colours of the scarf and how they match with both the top and trousers! Thanks for reading xoxo

Cat Eye FOTD

Hi all, been a bit busy the last few days! But here is a look I tried using my favourite Urban Decay liquid eyeliner! In the pictures you can see the cats eye a little bit more on my left eye but I think it's the angle I took the picture from being that I took it with my left hand!

It really is the easiest liquid eyeliner I've ever used, although it did take a while before I was happy that my cats eye was symmetrical - but I think thats just my OCD coming out!

I used:

FACE
No.7 Tinted Moisturiser in Medium
No.7 Perfect Light Loose Powder in Medium
New Cid I-Bronze in Rio
Rimmel Powder Blush in Santa Rose

EYES
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

Cute Heart OOTD

Today I fancied wearing my new jumper to work and I instantly thought of wearing it with my also fairly new bright orange skirt! I know I normally get hot at work so also thought to put on a nice casual but still smart t shirt underneath. I love adding belts to anything I wear as otherwise my figure can look a little bit boyish because I'm quite petite. The black boots are a bit of a must in the UK at the moment as it keeps raining and I'm not sure I can pull off wearing wellies in the office!

White zip t shirt - H&M - £7.99
Heart jumper - Next - £14
Orange skirt - Miss Selfridge - £35
Black boots - New Look - £25
Belt came free with a skirt from a car boot sale!
Tights - can't remember

What do you think? xoxo

Best Products of 2011

Ok so I have finally compiled my list of my favourite products from 2011! Some are those I have used constantly and some are those that were mega exciting and just simply amazing!!

In no particular order

Nail Varnish:
FashionistA Magnetism Nail Polishes in Notorious Silver, All Fired Up Red, Ego Green, Forever Is Blue and Purple Me Up - so great I purchased all five colours. So easy to apply, perfect manicure in minutes - not expensive either!

Nail Product:
Rebel Nails in Pink Leopard Print - nail foils applied with heat, work in a similar way to Minx (view my blog post here) but in my opinion are cheaper but work just as well. These lasted me four weeks and I only removed them because I was bored of having the same design on my nails for four weeks!!

Mineral Make Up:
Bare Minerals Get Started Medium Complexion Set - I know everyone bought this set way before me, but I purchased it in duty free at the airport and used it the whole time I was on holiday - was much kinder to my skin and it didn't dry out in the sun. It makes my skin looks almost perfect without me having to cake myself in product!

Foundation:
L'oreal True Match Liquid Foundation in Golden Beige - When I first tried this foundation I was instantly impressed  by it's velvety touch and appearance and the colour match. I guess thats what the aim of the product was, but so often you get a product that doesn't meet your expectations its nice when one does! This is also a foundation which doesn't necessarily require powder on top to set it in place all day.

Powder:
I have to include two here; No.7 Perfect Light Loose Powder in Medium and Max Factor Pressed Powder in Medium Beige - They both leave my skin feelin and looking smooth and flawless but the Max Factor powder has a bit of shimmer in it and is slightly darker so suits me perfectly for Summer whereas the No.7 loose powder is definitely my go to for the Winter!

Bronzer:
New Cid I-Bronze Compact with Mirror in Rio - I just love the different shades included in this baked bronzer (thats why I had to photograph it above open!) I think it gives the perfect bronzed look with a slight shimmer. I've used bronzers in the past which have too much glitter it just gets everywhere! I also love looking at all the swirls, I'm such a fool for pretty things!

Blush:
Rimmel Powder Blush in Santa Rose - This has been my favourite for a number of years, I think it goes back to when Rimmel used to be the brand I bought as a teenager with very little money! Great value brand. However the colour really suits me in summer when I have more of a tan. I also love the hint of shimmer in this, there's nothing like shimmery skin in the Summer!

Face Primer:
Smashbox Photo Finish Primer - Another purchase at the airport when I went on holiday last year, which really keeps my make up in place for well over 12 hours! It lasted really well in 30 degree heat on holiday too which is a bonus, a lot of make up tends to smudge in these kind of temperatures! It really helps me get that flawless look too as it fills in some gaps and creases in my face before applying my foundation, unfortunately we all have inmperfections!

Eyeshadow Primer:
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion - I am sorry but I have to hand it to Urban Decay, this primer is amazing. I first got to try it out when it was an addition to the first Book Of Shadows they released. Brilliant way to get new customers interested in a great product. It really does prevent my eyeshadow from creasing, even my liquid/cream eyeshadows! It also helps with keeping the glittery eyeshadows on your eyelid rather than everywhere else on your face, but of course the best product for this is Pixie Epoxy which I tried because of Sirvinya's blog advice.

Concealer:
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat - There is a reason that this is one of the most popular concealers, it really does help diminish the appearance of bags/dark circles under your eyes! Another purchase I made in duty free which made all my big brand purchases more worth while, it ended up being around £15 I think. I use it all the time and it would definitely be something I'd repurchase even at a higher price. You don't have to use a lot of it either as its so easy to use with the brush.

Eyeshadow (Palette):
Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Palette - I didn't want to choose this because I know so many other bloggers have but I haven't stopped using it since I got it. The colours included are perfect, there is a lovely mix of brights and neutrals which makes it easy to create lots of different looks. The eyeshadows in the Urban Decay Palettes really are amongst the best I've ever tried. They also have the prettiest packaging I've possibly ever seen and they really do try hard to accomplish fun designs for us!

Lip Liner:
Rimmel Vinyl Jelly Lip Liner in Sorbet (004) - I don't own many lip liners (probably something I should invest in this year) but this liner is a great colour for a nude lip for me, which is what I wear quite often. It isn't too matte either so to me it doesn't look boring, I love gloosy lips!!

Eyelash Curlers:
Shu Uemura - I purchased these after reading a lot of people blogging about how great they were and found them on eBay for about £5. They seem to curl and hold my lashes in place for a long time and they are so easy to use. I have only ever used one other pair of eyelash curlers which were probably a little more childish as they were plastic...so this is probably a biased opinion!

Lipstick:
The Body Shop Lipstick in Soft Sienna - as mentioned previously I love a nude lip colour, this is probably because I enjoy brightening up my eyes so much. This lipstick is the perfect nude lip for me, every shade suits people differently but I think this could be a shade for everyone! Its also very soft and moisturising, I hate it when lipsticks dry out your lips!

Eye Pencil:
Rimmel Kohl Eye Pencil in Jet Black - Again this is one of my long time favourites from my teenage years, I think I have replaced this 3 or 4 times. In my opinion it is almost as good as the Urban Decay 24/7 eye pencils but a lot cheaper! It is very creamy and stays all day. Its really easy to apply to the waterline and sometimes I find this isn't always the case for eye pencils.

Mascara:
No.7 Lash Adapt in Black - This mascara is probably one of very few that exceeded my expectations. They advertised you could build up the number of coats and it would increase the volume and length without clumping, meaning its the perfect product to alter your day look to an evening look. It really does work wonders and I have tried 7 coats and it still didn't clump!! Amazing, I've never experienced that before - not that you often need to apply 7 coats of mascara haha!!

Liquid Eyeliner:
Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liner in Perversion - Now this wasn't something I was expecting to feature on my list because it was just something that was included in the Book Of Shadows IV. I have not previously got on well with liquid eye liners as I haven't had much practice so I used to go for lighter or glittery shades so it wouldn't notice so much if I wasn't applying a line right up to my lashes. However this pen makes it so easy even I could create a perfect line. It really impressed me and I will be looking to purchase more colours this year (after my wedding of course!!)

I hope you have all enjoyed reading and that I didn't bore you half way through xoxo

Montagne Jeunesse Chocolate Face Mask Review

You can never have too much chocolate, not even at Christmas when you stuff your faces full of it - well I certainly do! Last night I tried a chocolate face mask too. Apparently it is great for moisturising, and as its Winter with a chill in the air drying out my face I thought it would be perfect.

I even got the fiancé involved! Although he used Superdrug's Sensitive Deep Cleansing Mud Mask. He looked a bit funny as he was laying on the sofa with his glasses over the top of the mask reading his Kindle - so cute!

Anyways, the Montagne Jeunesse website says this "Indulge in our guilt free natural treat of creamy delights with our Chocolate Masque. We’ve blended Fairly Traded Cocoa Butter from the sunny islands of the Dominican, with crushed Cocoa and ultra-moisturising Shea to leave skin silky soft and deeply cleansed. The listed ingredients are: Cocoa, dead sea salt, mediterranean clay and shea butter. And the instructions say: "Cleanse with warm water only. Apply evenly over face and neck with fingertips, avoiding eyes and lips. Lie back & relax for 10-15 minutes, or until dry. Rinse off with warm water. Pat dry. Use weekly"

I applied a thin layer to my face, then squeezed out more product from the sachet to give a thicker layer, then there was still more mask so I actually ended up what I would call a really thick heavy layer of face mask on my face. Thumbs up for the amount of product you get versus the price (usually around £1). The 10-15 minutes of waiting went by very quickly and I could gently feel my skin tightening as the mask dried. I took pictures but tried not too smile too much in case the mask cracked!

Once I had washed off the mask (I used a flannel and warm water - it didn't take too much scrubbing and I think this shows a good mask - you shouldn't have to make your face go red/sore from rubbing!) I stroked my face and it felt as smooth as a baby's bum, I'm not even joking - I don't remember the last time it was this smooth! I am going to stick to my new skincare routine and hope the feeling lasts! I have been moisturising my face more than normal due to it being Winter but that's what everyone does isn't it?

Overall a cheapish product which is fun (they come in so many flavours/varieties!), easy, not time consuming and very effective.

Let me know if you have had any good experiences with face masks!! ext post I'll be jumping on the bandwagon and doing a "Best of 2011". xoxo

Very Quick FOTD

Ok so today I was putting away some of my make up and rediscovered the following Benefit items:
Eye Brightener
Concealer It Stick
Bad Girl Eyeliner

So I was in the mood to use them for a quick natural-ish look.

I used:

FACE
No.7 Tinted Moisturiser in medium
Max Factor Pressed Powder in Medium Beige (41)

EYES
Benefit Eye Brightener - lower waterline
Benefit It Stick - under eyes
No.7 Smoky Rose Quad - all four shades used for eyelid, crease, under eye & highlight
Maybelline Colossal Eyes Mascara in black

LIPS
No.7 Wild Volume Lipstick in Toffee Apple

Definitely not as many items as I would normally wear for a day or evening look!! I think the eye brightener actually looks a bit weird - maybe I haven't done it right?! But I didn't get on with this mascara at first as it seemed really gloopy, possibly a dodgy tube?, although now I can see how long it makes my lashes look and it gives a great curl without using eyelash curlers - time saver maybe?

Is there anything you do to save time when making yourself up? Let me know ur tips/tricks! xoxo

200 blog posts!! This will be celebrated by a NOTD look!!

Hi all, well 200 posts, that's certainly an achievement for me! Some days I hardly find the time to blog, but I'm happy to know there are always people out there interested in what I am writing :)

For Christmas I got a few new bits of clothes - but no makeup and I haven't been buying any in the sales either - I've actually been super good. Hoping it means paying for the wedding will be a bit easier!!

Anyways, today I fancied a bit of gray...the weather hasn't been great! But then I felt it looked a bit sad and lonely so have divided my nail up diagonally with another silvery gray shade and separated it with a white line.
My pictures aren't great as I did my nails as quick as I could and the bottom layer wasn't quite dry enough for the "straight line using sellotape" trick. Nevermind, it's not something you notice up close as I don't know who would be getting that close to my nails in real life!!

Nail varnishes used:
No.7 Base Coat
Collection 2000 Hot Looks Fast Dry in Wham (27)
No.7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour in Night Silver (62)

P.s. if you have any ideas for me as to what posts I can do in 2012 please let me know - I am hoping to have a strong year of blogging and vlogging up ahead, and would really love to get my followers to 100 by the end of next year!! Thanks for reading xoxo
