October Favourites

This month I am doing my favourites on time! I'm also going to start keeping my new products in a separate place for these posts because although I don't buy loads, I tend to forget what is new - and what I love for each respective month!

I am going to extend my post by including two products. One which I think is an essential for Winter is a night moisturiser. During the day we brave the cold weather and it can make our skin really dry. Using a moisturiser at night replenishes your skinn and gives it time to let the cream set in. What I love is that it doesn't make my skin feel greasy or oily and when I wake up in the morning it feels super soft!

I love that the moisturiser is in a very durable pot - it says on the bottom "double wall construction" which makes me feel comfortable in taking it with me anywhere!!

The cream stays relatively cold, which means it always feels refreshing on my skin. I actually look forward to putting this on at night! I loved it so much I purchased the day cream the other day and now use this under my foundation.

My second favourite for this month is a foundation, so both pretty basic products this month. I sometimes struggle to find a foundation that matches my skin tone. This foundation was used on me when I went to London and the fact that the MUA chose this shade means it is right for me. If I'm honest I probably wouldn't have chosen vanilla myself as I normally think of myself as a medium skin tone.

I love the sleek packaging for this product, I've already blogged about another New ID product and all their packaging is pretty much the same - in a good way. View the posts here and here if you're interested.

I do like how the bottle is long and slender, it doesn't puff out my handbags/make up bags when I'm on the go. Also due to the packaging of the foundation itself I don't feel like it will break and leak my foundation everywhere. So this is another product I can trust not to let me down.

I've not had a liquid foundation with a built in brush before. I don't always use a brush - sometimes I just use my fingers - probably because I'm lazy! You only need a few pumps to cover your whole face so I'm hoping it will last a while. It seems to last all day - which for me is from about 6am to 10pm, pretty good staying power if you ask me. Although if I forget to use my primer and powder I do notice my skin doesn't look quite as flawless by the end of the day - although that is to be expected!

Every month I will tell you what I have used almost every single day, and although I'm not a huge person for makeup everyday (I prefer to sleep longer before leaving for work) I do enjoy experimenting, so if something gets used often, it's normally pretty special!!

 In March I purchased this:

 
The main reason is because Boots were doing their "£5 off No.7" vouchers and I had bought all the nail polish shades I liked!! I also find that foundation tends to dry out my face a bit so I can't wear it everyday - therefore I save it for those special ocassions, or nights out.

I've never used a tinted moisturiser before but have always heard good things about it. I was quite glad that this had SPF15 as although I live in England we can get the odd sunny day in Summer - least I would be prepared!!

I find you don't need to use too much which is good as this would normally set you back £10.50 (I'm a bargain hunter so won't normally pay more than this). I find the colour matches my skin quite well, but they only had "fair" or "medium" so quite lucky really. I'm not sure if it would blend in well to eveyone's skin colour as I'm sure there are more than two colours of skin out there, right? Let me know if you've tried this and how it blended into your skin.

The moisturiser also gives a lovely healthy glow, which is a real bonus because if you don't have much time, you will just need this and perhaps one coat of mascara for a natural look. I've never had to reapply during the day, however I do normally wear No.7 loose powder over the top which helps the moisturiser stay put.

I will continue to use this product throughout June and we have had a few sunny days so I'm happy to know I am protecting my skin. Overall a great product, which I definitely won't mind paying full price for when it runs out.

Spa Recipes - Leg Balm

So this sachet is another one from the set I bought from my 99p store. My fiancé was intrigued by the previous leg serum I used and didn't believe that my legs felt like silk. This time I said I would show him!

I applied this just before bed last night, when squeezing it from the sachet onto my hand, it smelt a bit like the medicine called "Calpol", felt a bit like it too actually, just less runny!! But I like the smell of Calpol so it's good. It's a kind of fruity smell in case you don't know what calpol is...and I suppose cherry like, as per the description of the sachet...

Once on my legs it was easy to smooth in, and was absorbed quite quickly, much quicker than the leg serum, but I think the serum was to exfoliate the skin rather than moisturise initially...making it easier for me to sleep as I didn't feel like I was going to stick to the bedsheets!!

 I'm now on my lunch break at work, and my legs do feel smoother than they did yesterday afternoon, so for a general treat for my legs once a week I would recommend it as it leaves my legs much smoother than a normal moisturiser would.

I'm now keen to use this every fortnight and the same with the leg serum, meaning my legs get a weekly treat!!

Spa Recipes - Thigh Toning Serum

Ok, so I'm not gonna pretend I'm a girl who goes out and buys a product purposely to make my legs look slimmer or anything (as I'm naturally quite slender) but recently from my 99p store I purchased a pack of 6 beauty treatment sachets. Now I know what you thinking - cheap rubbish? That's what I thought, but I'm a sucker for trying new things!

It came with: thigh toning serum, leg balm, frizz hair treatment, moisture hair treatment, thermal hot face mask and purifying face mask. Some of which I have tried already, but back to the review in hand...

I put the serum on my legs last night, it's a bit like a mixture of body scrub and moisturiser. The sachet holds the perfect amount for my legs, probably a bit too much if I'm honest (I am quite small) but there's no harm in really moisturising your legs no is there? It feels a bit weird on your hands at first, but I got used to it. The smell wasn't overpowering, but it was kinda fruity - which I liked.

After applying the serum and rubbing it in completely (which took a good few minutes) my legs felt a bit "sticky", so not something I would recommend before getting dressed to go to school or work. However as I did it just before going to bed it was fine.

When I woke up the next morning my legs felt like silk. Not kidding. Absolutely amazing. By the evening they still felt smooth, it was like I had shaved my legs, but better...imagine how my legs would have felt if I had in fact shaved then applied the serum? That will be my next test!!

So for a product that comes with 5 other sachets for 99p, it's a must buy!! I've already recommended it to a few friends!!
