You know your make up is too old when...

you go to pour out some liquid foundation and out comes water!? I didn't even know this is what happened after you'd left it so long? Even when some of the product comes out and I put the lid back on and shake it, it still sounds like there's more water in there!

I am going through my foundation stash and getting rid of shades that either no longer suit my skin colour, or those that need to go in the bin!! I don't think I spend long enough using up my products these days. New ones entice me too much and therefore I end up buying new things before I finish the old ones, then they end up being forgotten about!

Ok so what else is left of my collection apart from water? Well there is a picture below:

Of the above about 6 of them have been purchased in the last 12 months so all still in usable condition and can go safely back into storage! The other 8 (including the watery one) are over 12 months and I am going to test each one, or throw it out!

Rimmel Recover foundation in Soft Beige, watery - BIN
17 Super Wear Long Lasting Foundation in Biscuit, too pink for my skin - GIVE AWAY
Rimmel Lasting Finish in Pale Biscuit, little bit leaky - BIN
Avon ...... in Warmest Beige (name of the foundation has worn off!), perfect condition, wish I knew what it was now that I know it lasts so long! - KEEP
Rimmel Lasting Finish 16 Hour Foundation in Soft Beige, my favourite so far (I think you can tell I have bought a lot of Rimmel in the past, cheaper than many brands, but not lacking in quality!) perfect shade for Winter for me! KEEP
17 Skin Perfecting Shine Free Foundation, shade has worn off! Consistency however is great, perfect shade - another KEEP
NYC Natural Matte Foundation in 004 and 005, strangely 005 has gone very watery but 004 is perfect, and again is a great shade for Winter. Its a shame to split this pair up as I would use the darker shade for contouring, but what can you do?! 004 KEEP 005 BIN

There we go, after half an hour my foundation stash is now 25% smaller! Thanks for reading! xoxo

Models Own FOTD (Day 5/7)

It seems green FOTD's feature quite regularly on my blog compared with any other colour. I used my Models Own eyeshadows, which I haven't used as often as I should. They are great, highly pigmented and really easy to blend.

Please let me know if there are any items you would like me to start reviewing first, otherwise I will slowly go through the list one by one. I won't be buying much in the next few months - or the next year as I have a wedding to save up for!!

I'm going to start reviewing my most recent purchase first because I was so excited when I saw them on the Sleek make up stand. I had hoped they were on 3 for 2 like the last time I bought my Sleek palettes, but no such luck!! So this week I will be reviewing my new Sleek palettes - Caribbean Collection Curaҫao, The Primer Palette & Mediterranean Collection Monaco.

Foundation too dark? Don't panic!

So yesterday in Boots there were a few clearance items and I ended up taking home a shade of foundation which was a tad too dark for me - well in the Winter anyway - it's probably ok in the Summer as I tan easily!

This is me after using 17 Natural Radiance Foundation in Caramel - as I said a good look if I have a tan - but in Winter it makes me look like an Ooompa Loompa. Even for 50p I wouldn't wear it like this.

Me after using Virgin On eStep Face Base in Ivory - I'm definitely not an ivory shade either so you can see how this tones down the darkness of the foundation. It was just a test as I wasn't certain it would look right - but it actually did and I would fee like I could leave the house now lol.

Hope this helps someone out there who has tested foundation or powder and then got home to find it doesn't match their skin. It can be used both ways - if your foundation is too light use a darker powder. If your powder if too light use a darker foundation like I did!!

What do you think? Have you ever done this and just thrown the product away??

Colourful NOTD

This NOTD reminds me of sweeties! Probably why I like it so much hehe.

I used: Fairy Cake, Catwalk Couture, Sherbert Lemon, Royal Indigo and Orange Soda

I think this is really fun look, and hope it lasts a while as I'm meeting up with some friends over the weekend! The varnishes themself are quite cheap - I think I got them on offer - 3 for £5. For the cost they are great quality. What do you think? xoxo

I'm Going Dotty NOTD

Hi all, I fancied a change to my nails yesterday, and I needed something to do whilst watching the football with the other half! This is the design I came up with:

Initially I used a normal top coat for the black base coat, but then I decided it would probably look better as a matte manicure, so once I'd don the blue dots I added a matte top coat. I also cleaned the nails up a bit!!

In this order, I used:
No.7 So Smooth Base Coat
Wet n Wild in Black Cream
No.7 So Strong Nail Care
17 Fast Finsh Nail Polish in Catwalk Couture
Stay Perfect Matte Top Coat

What do you think?

NOTD

I couldn't wait to use my konad stamper set again!! I already had 2 designs lined up, so will also be doing my nails again this week to do the other design.

I used:
No.7 So Bright base coat
17 Parma Violet Lasting fix nail polish
17 Royal Indigo Lasting fix nail polish
Nail art deco polish in white
No.7 Stay Perfect top coat

I still need to edit my viedo, but for now here are some pictures:

Summer sky nails

You all know my main enjoyment is painting nails. Anything goes! So as we had been having lots of sunshine in the UK I thought this blur would be the perfect summer colour. Boots had an offer on their 17 nail polishes at the time; 2 for £5. I decided now would be a good time to add to my collection.

Left to Right: Orange Soda, Catwalk Couture, Palma Violet, Royal Indigo
This manicure is the result of my new bright blue and a pale blue (also 17) which I bought a few months ago.

“17” Nail Varnishes - Boots Payday Trip

I first saw these nail varnishes on the internet when checking out the latest No.7 nail varnishes. They stood out so much and made me think of Spring straight away. Which is always great when there’s been so much snow in the UK this year!!

I wanted to have a look at them in person rather than just buy online. But as soon as I saw them I was under a spell, I could just imagine how my nails would look.

Left to Right: Fairy cake, Mint choc chip, Sherbet lemon

When I first applied the nail varnishes they were quite thin, but after two coats (which is probably quite normal for a nail varnish anyway) they were as smooth as you could wish for. The colours are so beautifully bright yet so subtle at the same time because they are pastel shades.

I really wanted to paint my nails again with the mint choc chip, but I settled that desire by painting my boyfriend’s toenails – hehe. The great thing about these nail varnishes is that they were already on my “wishlist” because I'd seen similar colours all over other people’s blogs and fell in love. I’m a sucker for new nail varnish colours!!

I actually want to buy the rest of the collection now…they were on 3 for 2 when I bought them so instead of being £2.99 each I paid £5.98 for 3, much better!! And how can I say no to the other great colours when they are such a super price!

Let me know what you think – or if you have any similar shades you would like to share!!
