Foundation too dark? Don't panic!

So yesterday in Boots there were a few clearance items and I ended up taking home a shade of foundation which was a tad too dark for me - well in the Winter anyway - it's probably ok in the Summer as I tan easily!

This is me after using 17 Natural Radiance Foundation in Caramel - as I said a good look if I have a tan - but in Winter it makes me look like an Ooompa Loompa. Even for 50p I wouldn't wear it like this.

Me after using Virgin On eStep Face Base in Ivory - I'm definitely not an ivory shade either so you can see how this tones down the darkness of the foundation. It was just a test as I wasn't certain it would look right - but it actually did and I would fee like I could leave the house now lol.

Hope this helps someone out there who has tested foundation or powder and then got home to find it doesn't match their skin. It can be used both ways - if your foundation is too light use a darker powder. If your powder if too light use a darker foundation like I did!!

What do you think? Have you ever done this and just thrown the product away??

Colourful NOTD

This NOTD reminds me of sweeties! Probably why I like it so much hehe.

I used: Fairy Cake, Catwalk Couture, Sherbert Lemon, Royal Indigo and Orange Soda

I think this is really fun look, and hope it lasts a while as I'm meeting up with some friends over the weekend! The varnishes themself are quite cheap - I think I got them on offer - 3 for £5. For the cost they are great quality. What do you think? xoxo

...on how to store my shoes!!!

Look at them all - it's crazy! I'm desperate to start wearing them more often rather than sticking to the same pair of shoes everyday...

Another Rainy OOTD

Sorry guys, but today's post is another OOTD. I won't be doing this everyday...but I was wearing something new. You know when you get new clothes and can't wait to wear them? Well I got quite a few new items for Christmas so now I'm gonna have a lot of fun wearing them all!! I thought I would show you how you can fit many great pieces into one outfit!

Here I am wearing a plain black long sleeve top (the air con is right next to me at work so I usually have to keep warm!), diamond patterned black tights, black ankle boots, a grey playsuit, a bright blue vest top and a grey pendant.

I hate wearing the same boots almost everyday but the weather is appalling in the UK at the moment. I have to drive through some floods to get to work, and then spend 10-15 minutes morning and night walking through puddles. These boots are my new best friend!

What do you think?

First Official OOTD!

This is my first official Outfit Of The Day (OOTD) after asking you all whether you would be interested. Today is Monday - so back to work. Normally I'll choose an item and plan the rest around it, and quite often I choose bright colours.

Today I chose a dress I bought when I was in Switzerland with my girlies, I just love the pattern. I wanted a long sleeve top as it was raining outside! :( Therefore the obvious choice was my orange top - both long sleeved and bright. Meaning the rest of my outfit could be pretty "boring". I picked my striped black tights and black ankle boots - perfect for rainy days. I also got up 5 minutes early to find my colourful spotted umbrella - I'll show it to you another day :) See below for my picture of today's outfit!

The funny thing about this photo being taken is that you're lucky my cat isn't in it, he decided to run right past when the flash went off!! What do you think?

Thanks for reading xoxo

Would anyone be interested if...

I started doing a few outfits of the day (OOTD)? I have always had a passion for fashion. I don't always get it right - but I often experiment and buy things that look different and aren't necessarily "on-trend".

Below is a picture from Dec 09 - going back a bit but I had this picture in mind when I was thinking about asking you this question - and I still love this outfit for a casual work day during winter. I apologise for the bad quality photo but it was taken with my phone.

Above I am wearing a silver butterfly headband, a Bench watch, a black roll neck jumper, a yellow belt, skinny black jeans and a pair of yellow brogues - the brogues are my favourite part!

I have many pairs of shoes, and currently they are in a large 80L box in my under stair cupboard - however I want to keep them in my bedroom so that I can see what choices I have - rather than grabbing a pair in a rush before leaving! I don't have much space...any ideas?

Totally Funky NOTD

Hey everyone, as you may know I tend to go for some strange combinations, I thought it was time for another!! I wanted to used two contrasting/clashing colours, I first thought of green and blue, but then spotted a red and thought red and blue. Then saw these two lovely colours - Foxglove and Totally Teal - both by No.7 at Boots. I thought I would keep it simple with the french manicure style. With bright colours like these you don't need to do much else.

I hope to keep this on for quite a white, I may even add a white nail art design over the weekend - who knows! :D Thanks for reading, and please let me know your thoughts, requests or ideas you've used!

Max Factor Queen Bee FOTD

Tonight I wanted to use some more of the eyeshadows I got for Christmas. My Max Factor trio - I used some on my eyelid, the crease and under my eye. I'm still not convinced it turned out well. I really love the green lids and copper crease - but am not so sure about the yellow. Or the bright lips - I do love my MUA lip gloss but perhaps not with a look this bright. Although I hear bright is in this Spring!

I used:

FACE

L'oreal True Match Liquid Foundation in (W3) Golden Beige
No.7 Perfect Light Loose Powder in Medium
No.7 Cheek Tint in Maple Silk
Rimmel Powder Blush in Santa Rose

EYES

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Max Factor Queen Bee Trio
MUA Glitter Eyeliner in Shade 10
L'oreal Telescopic Clean Definition Mascara in Black
Rimmel Kohl Eye Pencil in Black

LIPS

MUA Lip Gloss in Shade 4

What happens when you try out new looks??

No.7 Cream Cheek Tint Review

I bought this product from Boots when they were offering £5 off No.7 products. I thought to myself, when better to try something new, than when you get £5 off. I was a bit nervous when first trying it and didn't quite know what to do. I'd used a cream highlighter before so thought I'd use this in a similar way, but apply it to the appropriate area.

I found it took a while to get used to the creamy texture when I was so used to powder. Although it lasts a lot longer. I do tend to use powder over the cream just to set it, then it is normally still in tact just before bed. I was really impressed with the colour too. There were only two shades available but this one suited me perfectly - it's called Maple Silk. I love using it when I am going to work and there's a chance I might be going out straight afterwards. It looks like I've only just applied my make up!

I would definitely be interested in buying more cream products in the future so that I have more long-lasting products - making it easier for me!

Have you enjoyed any cream or tint products lately?

Wintery NOTD

Tonight I have been going through my nail polish collection wondering what shade I should use....I came across Temptress, a No.7 shade which I got for my birthday in November and haven't used yet - perfect. It also describes the characters from Lipstick Jungle which I have been watching lately - similar to Sex In The City if anyone hasn't seen it!

Once on, I felt it needed two coats to show the true colour. But I love it, it's such a great wintery colour, such a rich, deep red. I'm not normally a fan of red nail polishes but this has won my heart. I might dazzle it up a bit with some nail art tomorrow, but for now I'm going to relax before bed as today has been a very busy day. And when the boyfriend gets home we're going to be watching an episode of 24! Enjoy your evening :)

December Favourite

Hi all, as promisd here is my December favourite. It's something I feel everyone should own. And it's something that has only been added to my collection in the last 6months or so. At the time I wasn't sure whether to buy it or not...

Anyways, enough rambling, the item in question is No.7 Perfect Light Loose Powder. I can not believe how long I went without owning a loose powder! I'm sure everyone knows why they're great, so I'm going to let you know what this one does for me that makes me love it so much!

Firstly I like the size of this pot, it's handheld. It is big enough to hold a decent amount of product, but small enough so that you can carry it with you. It also includes a powder puff inside, I don't use this very often. I'd rather use my brush. But if you forget to pop a brush in your handbag you're pretty much saved!

I love how the powder feels on my skin, its so soft. I think it's great to build up as well, you can put on as little or as much as you like. I actually did an experiment with it where I started off using the smallest amount and took pictures continuously whilst adding more powder. Eventually I stopped, but it didn't look cakey or anything. Only I could really tell how much I had on, and the best bit is it didn't feel heavy on my face. It felt like I just had my usual moisturiser on.

The only issue I have had with this product recently is that it got shaken up quite badly and has pretty much gone all inside the pot, which means I have to be really careful not to spill it everywhere when I open it!

I seem to remember this costing around £10, but used a £5 off No.7 voucher so it was a real bargain. There were a few shades to choose from, possibly 3, which isn't a massive range but enough to get a colour that will suit you. I went for "Medium". I really like the No.7 products and I'm hoping they'll keep bringing more out to keep me happy :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Hiya everyone, hope you had a lovely new year and are ready to get back to reality? I have a December favourite post coming up soon! But for now I will show you what I recently bought whilst on a Christmas sales shopping trip.

It was still 3 for 2 on cosmetics in Superdrug - I love that it includes palettes! I checked out the Sleek collection, and what do you know - they have the sparkle set in stock! They also had one other Sleek palette (Sunset) I didn't have so I got that too. Then thought I would check out the Max Factor and L'oreal stands for my free item. It's always best to get the expensive items free :) Dave also helped me choose - it's no surprise he wanted me to get the Queen Bee eyeshadow trio because of it's bright colours.

I can't wait to get some glitter on my eyes tomorrow for my first day back at work! I haven't had time to have a play with any yet, but I have many new products to use this month! My bedroom is almost completely organised so I won't even have an excuse anymore!

Hope you're all ok! x
