Dying My Hair & FOTD

Normally in the Spring/Summer I go blonde and then brown again (my natural colour) in Autumn/Winter so as the summer is pretty much over in the UK I thought it was a good time to go brown. I remembered I had this hairdye in the back of my cupboard. I got it in the reduced section in Tesco around April time for £1.44. Brilliant!

I found this dye very easy to use. It came with a separate nozzle top to make it easy to apply to the different sections of my hair. It claimed to be non drip, although I did find one drip on the back of my neck. However, it's not too runny a substance so it didn't matter.

I also think the final colour is gorgeous, with a golden shimmer, but that could be because of the blonde colour it was before. I left it on for about 40 minutes, which is longer than the packet said but I've been using dyes for quite a while now and know that the colour is fuller when it is left on longer. I then left the colour conditioner on for 10 minutes as well to nourish my hair.

Here is the after shot:

I'll also let you know what make up I have on.

FACE

No.7 Shine Free Primer
No.7 Mineral Perfection Foundation
No.7 Perfect Light Pressed Powder
No.7 Cheek Tint

LIPS

The Body Shop Brazil Nut Lip Butter
No.7 Nude Rebellion Lipstick

EYES

Urban Decay Primer Potion
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Italian Ice - Hot in the City collection from Aromaleigh - for my eyelid
Airy Ethos - Victoria's Revenge collection from Aromaleigh - for the outer part of my eye
Glow - Pure Eyes Frost collection from Aromaleigh - for my brow highlight
Blue from my No.7 Colour Rebellion Eye Palette as a lower waterline eyeliner

Gosh Sparkling Coal eye pencil for my upper lashline
Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express mascara

I love bright colours on my eyes! I was going to use my new Sapphire liquid eyeliner on my upper lashline, but I decided against it once I'd lined my lower waterline because there was already enough pop!! What do you think?

NOTD

Today I decided to apply foils to my nails. It was going to be over very berry, but after applying the glue it just ripped the polish straight off - so I'm assuming foils don't work well with this type of polish...anyone else tried it?? Let me know :)

Anyway so I used the foils, with just a case coat underneath, when I showed my fiance he loved it. It only took about 10 minutes (not including the restart!)

What do you think? And also does anyone else use foils??

Just testing...

Yesterday was quite hectic, although I still wanted to try out a few of my new make up bits. I used the creme eyeshadow in pewter (that came in the No.7 make up bag - free gift) I also used liquid eyeliner in sapphire, I think I put more on my left eye than my right...I used my new mineral foundation, which won't be for everyday use and my new plum lipstick, which I found very moisturising.

Essence Jelly Baby Nail Varnish

In the post today were my Essence Jelly Baby polishes and Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express Mascara.

Both purchased from eBay. The jelly polishes were £6.45 for 5 (they're the first jelly polishes I own) and the mascara was £3.47.

I really like the packaging the mascara came in, it just slips straight out of the plastic, not need to cut or tear!! Although upon opening the mascara tube it seems quite gloopy, has anyone else found this??

I will be reviewing these soon!!

No.7 Boots Haul - Payday

Ok, so long story cut short. I had 5 No.7 £5 off vouchers to use and bought 5 products in Boots. WIth my last purchase I got another voucher but thought I would save it til I had a bit more cash. Then I remembered that Abbey sent me a new bank card the other day - even though I thought I had closed my account - so as I had a day off, with not much to do, I popped in to see if there was any money in the account.

SCORE £52.93 - I went back to Boots to buy some more No.7. Overall I spent £52.13, about £45 on No.7. At the moment you get a free gift when you spend £22 on No.7, and because I was doing all my items in separate transactions I knew I wasn't entitled to this, however I was about to leave after my second purchase and the lady chucked the free gift into my bag!! SCORE!! I was so happy when I left I had to phone Dave - my fiancé - to tell him all about it!

Pretty good stash for £52 me thinks!!

I will be reviewing each of these items shortly. Thanks for reading!!

Neon Nail Polish

These arrived for me in the post today!
I realised just a few days ago I didn't really own many neon nail polishes. So I got a set from eBay. I will have to think of a nail design to use these

So here is my quick FOTD which I did before I started work in my office.

More No.7

One of my lovely colleagues left a "£5 off No.7" voucher on my desk so I wandered into town on my lunch break to use it! Boots are still giving them away when you spend over £5 so I thought now is the time to buy the new No.7 mascara, then I will get another voucher!!

Here are my purchases:

Exceptional Definition Mascara in Black, Stay Perfect Lipstick in Angel Kiss

On the website Boots says " The innovative three-in-one brush gives lashes exceptional definition and volume." The brush looks like this:

If you look closely, or enlarge the picture, you can see that the top bristles are shorter for application and ensuring there are no clumps. The longer bristles at the bottom are for combing through your lashes. Finally, the end of the brush has some bristles to enable you to get into the corner of your eye without getting mascara everywhere!

I can honestly say after just one coat it makes a huge improvement to my lashes. You can easily add several coats with this mascara due to the "combing" and "no clumping" bristles.

My second purchase was a lipstick. Of all the No.7 I own (my collection is quickly expanding) I have not yet tried a lipstick. I was tempted by the new Autumn limited edition plum shade, but I do already have a Rimmel plum lipstick which I love so I was more tempted to go for a nude shade. I looked at the Autumn LE nude but it was a bit too pink for me. So I started looking at the usual stand and found a few I liked. But this one caught my eye. Slightly nude, with a slight shimmer.

It's not too much to wear at work, but also the slight shimmer means you can wear it on a night out. Below are some pictures of how it looks once applied.

I did find that after eating, the lipstick wore off a bit, so perhaps the staying power of this is not great, but I have only come across a few lipsticks that have worthwhile staying power. Seems ironic that this is in the "stay perfect" range though. I do however love how moisturised it makes my lips feel.

P.s. I was eating these whilst typing this blog and they are so moreish I've just finished the whole bag!! It was definitely not big enough to share...has anyone else tried these???

My First Nail Tutorial

I've wanted to do a video tutorial on Youtube for a while, so yesterday I filmed myself whilst painting my nails. As it's just a tester I've added music to it instead of me speaking as I was a little nervous about that bit. Also as I ended up making a 25 minute video and the Youtube limit is 10 minutes I had to speed it up a bit.

I used Corel VideoStudio, let me know if you use anything that you think might make life easier for me as it was also my first time using the program.

Anyways, without further ado, here is my video - enjoy!!

Here is a still picture of the finished design :)

FOTD - using No.7 Colour Rebellion Eye Palette

Today I was very busy and so only wanted to do a quick eye FOTD using my new palette.

I have used the blue on my lid and purple/lilac in the crease. This is without any primer or concealer as I really did want to be quick. I will do a proper look tomorrow I promise. Perhaps even for youtube if I can find a suitable video camera.

I also used Urban Decay eye liner in Electric on my lower lashline, No.7 smoky eyeliner on my upper lashline and one coat of L'oreal Extra Volume Collagene mascara in black. The colours in the palette blend so well I'm really pleased with it after just briefly trying it out. My phone camera wasn't picking up the look very easily so I used my partners SLR...though I think it's the lighting in our room that stinks, not the camera...

No.7 Heaven

Hi guys, I have been buying more make up!!

The fiancé was working on Sunday so I took a brief trip into town - he also got me pizza! But whilst chatting to him is fun I was tempted to check out the shops for make up. I went into Boots - and that's where it stopped really as I didn't have the cash to go anywhere afterwards!

I had 2x No.7 £5 off vouchers so I wanted to look at the No.7 stand first and found these goodies.

Almost immediately I saw a "Stay Perfect Matte Top Coat". I have been looking to get my hands on one of these cheaply for a while. £6.75 normally, £1.75 with the voucher. Excellent. I applied it on top of my Barry M manicure and I can really tell the difference. Hopefully it shows in the pic that the right hand is very shiny...?

The second item I chose was the Colour Rebellion Eye Palette, I was fixated on the colours - they're perfect for Autumn yet not dull at all. I tried it out quickly on Sunday, the colours go on smoothly and are also very pigmented. I used the green for my eyelid and the red in my crease. The red is more of a copper once blended and looked great! This also gave me another £5 off No.7 voucher as it was £5.50 after using the other voucher. The only thing I didn't like was the crocodile effect on each pot, but only because I didn't wanna ruin it!

I then decided to get a smoky eyeliner. I don't use liquid liner very often, and I'm only just getting used to it, but I thought this sounded like a very clever product. I used this with the palette when trying it out and wow was I shocked - in a good way. It's so easy to apply, it has a sponge applicator, but the best bit is because it's supposed to look smoky it doesn't matter if you don't get it perfect. Great for someone who is getting used to liquid liner. Only £4.50 when using a £5 off voucher.

The only other No.7 item I want is the new mascara...I should have really bought this before the smoky eyeliner as its £12 and would have been over £5 after using a voucher so I would have got another voucher - which I would have used to buy the eyeliner. Now I have to see if a kind friend has a voucher they want to give me so that I can get the mascara for £7 instead of £12!

Hope you've enjoyed this blog - it's a little bit longer than normal but I was just so excited about these products.

Organisation

I realised that my make up wardrobe wasn't very well organised. It was basically make up in one large box and a couple of smaller boxes inside to separate the items up a bit. Then I had two small boxes for nails and hair.

I'd been looking into ways of making it easier to find a certain make up product and had seen many people using big dresser tables and desks on YouTube, but I don't have that much space. What I did think of was either a tower of storage drawers or a shoe rack, which I could use to slide lots of separate boxes on and off - so would function in a similar way to drawers.

I discussed it with the fiancé, even though he pretends not to care about my make up, and he thought if I got a shoe rack I would probably end up keeping shoes on it, and therefore wouldn't be solving my make up dilemma. We looked on the argos website and decided to go for something that would fit inside my wardrobe perfectly; a 6 drawer tower.

I also purchased from our 99p shop 2x 10 microwaveable tubs (like the ones you get takeaway in) to separate my items. I haven't yet labelled them but I probably will, although it does help that the tubs are transparent.

Here are some pictures for you!!

The kittens fell asleep in one of my smaller boxes, which I now use to keep my perfumes in

My make up and nail varnishes separated into takeaway tubs

The box my saviour came in

A tidy wardrobe - finally!

Let me know if you've ever had/solved this problem, I'd be very interested to know what you have done :)

Green Barry M Manicure

Yesterday I bought two Barry M nail varnishes, the first two for my collection. My local Boots store had them on offer; 2 for £5.

I bought mint green and spring green. I did a similar look to my blue summer nails, but have also added a black konad stamp under the French tip.

It was my first proper go at konad stamping so it's definitely not perfect but I still really like it.

Summer sky nails

You all know my main enjoyment is painting nails. Anything goes! So as we had been having lots of sunshine in the UK I thought this blur would be the perfect summer colour. Boots had an offer on their 17 nail polishes at the time; 2 for £5. I decided now would be a good time to add to my collection.

Left to Right: Orange Soda, Catwalk Couture, Palma Violet, Royal Indigo
This manicure is the result of my new bright blue and a pale blue (also 17) which I bought a few months ago.

Ok...so I've been lazy

I'm sure we've all got a bit lazy at times, but me, well I've not posted much on here lately and I really wanted to build up a collection of posts. From today I will try to blog at least 5 times a week, once I get it sorted on my phone I'm sure that will be easy. (If you know me you know I always have something to say!) The problem with blogger on my phone is it always uploads the photos sideways, well I have two in my drafts that I haven't got round to posting yet because I wanted to sort the problem out, and the other one is 2posts before this...it just doesn't look attractive so I want to figure it out!!

If you have an android phone and know the solution, please let me know asap!! Hopefully you'll hear from me soon!! :)

Many thanks.

Back Again

I have sooooo much to catch up on, but I want to start by briefly explaining my reason for being back. Today I think I stumbled across the best bargains ever...!! In our 99p store, which is starting to become my best friend and my bank's worst enemy, I found Rimmel vinyl jelly lip liners and Revlon renewist lipcolor.

I spent a while going through all the different colours, and managed to get 3x 2packs of Rimmel lip liners in: 002 Be A Star - hot pink, 003 Starlet - nude, 004 Sorbet - light pink, 005 Succulent - medium pink, 007 Fudge - light browen and 010 Tasty - medium brown. I had my niece with me so will pop in there again tomorrow for a quick look for 001 Moreish, 006 Risque (I think), 008 Choccie and 009 Hot Spark. I see that Rimmel discontinued these in 2008, but they are the best lip liners I have ever tried. I don't wear liner very often so haven't tried many, but I can't see myself wanting to try anymore after these! They go on so easily and don't look too obvious so are great for lining or as a base to your favourite lip gloss! A bargain for only 99p for 2!!

There were so many more Revlon lipsticks, I spent a bit longer looking for a variety of colours and found 15; firstly a range of browns, then nudes/pinks, then reds/plums.
090 Heart Warming, 130 Mauvellous, 020 Coffee Fix, 050 Chocolate Satisfaction, 030 Moistly Mocha.
220 Juicy Apricot, 120 Coming Up Roses, 240 Coral Fixation, 070 Pretty In Pink, 100 Full Blush.
200 Red Reinvented, 110 Fresh Watermelon, 140 Raspberry Blush, 170 Full Bodied Wine, 180 Radiant Ruby.

I have tried a few of the lipsticks already and no matter what shade I use they all seem to suit me and blend in well with my skin tone. I hadn't found a red that suited me before and saw all the magazines that said "everyone can wear red lipstick, you just need to find the right shade" I wondered whether they were wrong, but now I know they are 100% right, and it's not just one shade of red that seems to work!! Am glad I purchased every shade I found!

I severely recommend you check out your local 99p store if you have one for drug store brand make up as it can work out a lot cheaper. I spent £18, but these would have easily cost me £93 or more, I am just estimating as lip liners are normally around £3 each and lipsticks around £5 each.

Let me know if you find any of these in your local, or if you find something else that surprised you!! Thanks :)
