Sleek from Bluewater Trip

For my birthday I got something I've wanted for a loooooong time. I persuaded the boyfriend to get me a sleek palette, well not just one - three - it was 3 for 2 so how could I resist?! The Superdrug they had wasn't as big as I expected it to be.

I got Acid (as pictured above), Storm and the Original palette. It comes in clear plastic packaging with white and pink font. It really is a stylish looking palette, black with some swirly writing and not too much going on.

It's relatively small, you could fit it into any handbag, it seems pretty stable as the guy dropped it when he was scanning it through the till and I checked it once I got outside the shop and it was fine! This makes me feel comfortable about taking them out with me.

Original

Acid

Storm

All the colours look pretty pigmented, I've had a little play but not properly. I will hopefully do my first FOTD with them tomorrow. I'm also hoping to get more in the future. The sparkle palette is the new limited edition and was unfortunately sold out when I was in Bluewater, I was quite sad, considering it would have made a great birthday present to get some new sparkly eyeshadow!! hehe.

Celebrity Collage by MyHeritage

MyHeritage: Celebrity Collage - Roots - Geneology

Birthday Gifts

OMG - my boyfriend announced he was taking me to Bluewater to spend money on me! Wooo - I was immediately excited. First I met my mum for a stroll through town to look in a few shops and have a drink. I tried Smirnoff Apple vodka - very nice! With my mum's money I bought a head band and some brown fluffy laced knee high boots. New Look had a 20% off voucher online so I used that! In the picture they are near the bottom left.

I got two gifts from friends about a week ago as they live quite far away - from my friend Leoni I got a spa day for two and I cannot wait to use this, it will be much deserved. My friend Charlie got me some froggie pyjamas and a lovely big bottle of perfume.

I have taken a picture of all my items together - except the spa gift vouchers as they are in a safe place atm so that I don't lose them!

The items I got in Bluewater from my future hubby are:
Brown fluffy ankle shoe boots - New Look (match my knee length boots)
Burghandy coat - New Look
Patterned fashion scarf - Dorothy Perkins
Hollister sweatpants - Hollister
Hollister shirt - Hollister
Grey & burghandy purses - Domos
Grey bag - Jane Norman
3 Sleek palettes - original, acid, storm - Superdrug
Brown waist cinch belt - Monsoon/Accessorize
Burghandy Converse - Schuh

The nail items in and around the box at the centre back is from my future in laws - lovely stuff - can't wait to use it all.

Will do another post on the beauty items shortly in more detail :)

FOTD

I was off out the other night to celebrate my friend's 30th, and I apologise for not blogging sooner but I have been busy as yesterda was my birthday! Woo! But anyway - better late than never - I am posting you my FOTD. I wanted something quite quick as I got in from work at 6ish and knew people were already partying and drinking! I chose a brown neutral look as I find this quite easy when I want to be quick.

I used:

FACE

L'oreal True Match Foundation in (W3) Golden Beige
New ID I-Bronze in Rio
No.7 Cheek Tint in Maple Silk
New ID I-Glow in Ice Pop

EYES

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Urban Decay BoS Vol II in Twice Baked - eyelid
Urban Decay BoS NYC in Maui Wowie - crease
Rimmel Kohl Eye Pencil in Black
No.7 Exceptional Definition Mascara in Black

LIPS

No.7 Lip Gloss in Hint

What do you think? I didn't take too long to get ready - perhaps 15 minutes...5 minute make up, 5 minute hair straightening and 5 minutes to change my shoes!!

Avon Clearskin Immediate Response Blemish Treatment

Ok so this product is something I've had a while, I'm not sure if Avon still do it, but I hope so. I keep it in my desk at work and both me and my colleague reach for it when we can just feel a spot coming. It's funny when I see her coming and she has her hand covering her face and reaches for the tube! Although really the spot is never that big.

It seems to speed up the process and bring the spot out, then it goes within a day sometimes. Crazy I know but if I forgot to use this my spots tend to stay for at least a few days so I can only give the credit to this product as I don't change my skincare routine when I have a spot. It's quite a small tube, only 15ml, but I haven't got to the bottom yet, you only need to use a small amount.

I'm going to be using this today as I've felt a spot appearing. You place the the small dot of gel on your spot, and it seems to act as a protective antiseptic layer and gets rid of redness pretty quickly. Once dry you can even apply make up over it if you wish - I guess the gel acts as a protective layer.

Even if Avon discontinued this it may still be available on eBay. I think it was around £3, which for me is a great price for something that reduces blemishes!

Have you tried this?

Silver Eyeliner Review

Today I thought I would review an eye liner I have had for almost a year. I got it in the New Year sale last year for £1. Yes that's right - I just couldn't resist the low price!

I have worn it more than a few times when I have understated eye make up and want to give it that extra dazzle. One coat will give a subtle shimmer or you can layer it quite easily to get a more glittery look.

The brush is relatively small, and glides along the eye very nicely. The length of the brush means you can reach the edge of your eye, without getting any of the liner on your face! The brush isn't too stiff so you can create a variety of lines - perfect for flicks.

This is one coat and I think it's just right for a subtle effect

The out of focus picture shows the glitter quite well

Overall it's a brilliant eyeliner for £1, and even if there were other colours at full price I would purchase them. It does the job you want it too and because it's sparkly you can vary the intensity for many different looks.

Hiya everyone, just a quick FOTD again. I'm not sure if I'm posting these too often - I don't want you all to get bored - let me know if you wanna see more reviews, or tutorials, or anything else?? I won't ramble on otherwise I will definitely bore you...hehe, so here is the look:

Bright School Disco FOTD's

I was asked to do the eye make up for two friends who were working at a pub whilst a school disco evening was being held. Below are pictures of the looks we chose together.

First I did Carlene's make up, and it was chosen from a previous FOTD I did:

I used:
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Aromaleigh Les Papillons in Spread Your Wings - top inner corner
Aromaleigh Hot In The City in Return To Tiffanys - top outer corner
Aromaleigh Hot In The City in Coney Island - lower centre
Aromaleigh Hot In The City in Italian Ice - lower inner corner
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero
No.7 Exceptional Definition Mascara in black - upper lashes
Barry M Lengthening Mascara in Electric Purple- lower lashes

Then I did Errin's make up and her favourite colour is yellow so I decided to do a gradient look going from bright yellow to a dark shimmery green:

I used:
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Eyeshadows from the 120 Palette below
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero
No.7 Exceptional Definition Mascara in black - upper lashes
Barry M Lengthening Mascara in Electric Purple- lower lashes

Don't they look lovely :)

I'm Going Dotty NOTD

Hi all, I fancied a change to my nails yesterday, and I needed something to do whilst watching the football with the other half! This is the design I came up with:

Initially I used a normal top coat for the black base coat, but then I decided it would probably look better as a matte manicure, so once I'd don the blue dots I added a matte top coat. I also cleaned the nails up a bit!!

In this order, I used:
No.7 So Smooth Base Coat
Wet n Wild in Black Cream
No.7 So Strong Nail Care
17 Fast Finsh Nail Polish in Catwalk Couture
Stay Perfect Matte Top Coat

EOTD - My First Cat's Eye

Ok, so today was my day off work and I wasn't planning on going anywhere so I was gonna do my nails, but then we (my partner and I) decided we would go out for dinner. Therefore I thought I'd give a cat's eye a go, and if it looked bad it wouldn't matter as it would be dark! I didn't want to take too long over it as sometimes that just makes things seem harder and you won't want to try it again - or perhaps that's just me? I used my No.7 Smoky Eyeliner as I thought it would make the look easier. Here are the results:

I used:

FACE

Actually nothing - I wanted to give my skin a day to breathe as I seem to have a few light spots at the moment and I don't want them to get any worse!

EYES

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
UD BoS II - Ecstasy - eyelid
UD BoS II AC/DC - crease
UD BoS II - Sellout - highlight
No.7 Smoky Eyeliner in Black - upper/lower lashline & cat's eye flick
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero - upper/lower waterline
No.7 Lash 360 Mascara in Black (freebie) - upper lashes
Barry M Lengthening Mascara in Electric Purple- lower lashes
Black glitter for the edge of the cat's eye (last minute decision)

LIPS

Avon Extreme Glazewear Gloss in Sand Shine

I wanted to add in one final picture today - which I think shows how long the No.7 Lash 360 Mascara lengthens my lashes - it kinda shocked me - it was the first time I'd used it since receiving it as part of a free gift (see here for details).

What do you think? I actually found it easier than I thought it would be and I love the way it turned out - I think I may be experimenting more with this in the future!! Thanks for reading :)

New ID I-Conceal in Medium
No.7 Perfect Light Pressed Powder in Medium
New ID I-Bronze in Rio
No.7 Cheek Tint in Maple Silk
New ID I-Glow in Ice Pop

EYES

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Urban Decay BoS Vol II in Jinx - eyelid

Please note - these pictures were taken after work - so I'd been wearing the make up for about 10 hours - in my opinion it has stayed in place really well!! What do you think? I've not done a look similar to this before and I think the colours have worked well. A green or brown eye pencil on my top lid would have been interesting...maybe next time.

No.7 Beside The Sea Stay Perfect Eyeshadow Palette

I realise this is really the wrong season to be reviewing a "beside the sea" eyeshadow trio but nevermind. I got it a few weeks ago with a Boots No.7 £5 off voucher of course so it was only a few pounds. It's normally £9.75 (click this link for the other 11 shades). I was really intrigued by these colours and more to be honest - but I'm trying to spend a bit less on make up these days - plus my birthday and christmas are ocming up so I'm hoping to get some goodies then! Onto the product.

It's relatively small, so perfect to carry around. However, it does contain 2g of eyeshadow, which is pretty good. It comes with a small brush - which I haven't actually used - it's the same general sponge applicator that comes with a lot of make up products. I love the choice of colours in this range - I'm definitely loving how bright these are too. I chose this palette because I'm a sucker for greens and blues, although lately I've been oh so tempted to be daring and get a vibrant red!

Anyway, I have swatched the colours above for you, the top row is the shadows on their own, then with Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion as a base, then using Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy as a base for the bottom row.

Hopefully the picture shows how much of a difference a great base can make, and how lovely these colours are. They're so pigmented that I only had to use two swipes to apply these to show you! This is my first No.7 eyeshadow and I doubt it will be my last. I've been really impressed with all the No.7 products since making the most of the £5 off vouchers.

I'm really hoping to get my hands on some more of these, they are so easy to work with and the colours chosen for each palette match perfectly! I really wanna try using Space Odessey - from the website it looks like it has a light grey, dark grey and orange/yellow colour...so much fun to be had!

Anyways I'm rambling now...so let me know what you think!

Nails Inc NOTD

I dreamed up this mani because I wanted to use more than one of my new Nails Inc polishes. I used Hampstead Heath and Savile Row. See below for my step by step :)

Nails painted in Hampstead Heath

Masking tape used to create a diagonal line for me to apply Savile Row

Savile Row applied

I then added on some nail art from my Art Deco set

Close up

What do you think? Have you done anything special with your new Nails Inc polishes?
